At Citizens Bank, we value the safety and privacy of your personal information. In doing so, we wanted to advise you of our policies regarding non-public, personal information.
When you call us or come to any of our offices, we will ask for some information to verify your identity. But we want to assure you that we will never call you or send you an email asking you to send us a response containing personal or private information.
In the past several months, several "scams" have been centered around phone calls or emails asking a customer to reveal account numbers, Debit Card numbers, passwords or other personal, private, non-public information. In some cases, scammers are sending fraudulent emails claiming to be from certain banks or banking agencies and then ask customers to visit a fraudulent website identical to the bank's authentic website in order to have customers provide their personal information.
We want to remind you never to disclose ANY personally identifying information if requested via an unsolicited email or phone call. This includes:
- Citizens Bank account numbers or credit card numbers
- Personal Identification Numbers (PIN) or passwords
- Social Security Number
- Mother's Maiden Name
- Other private information
If you ever get an unsolicited phone call or email claiming to be from Citizens Bank (or any other bank) asking you for personal identifying or account information, please do not respond. Call us at 318-539-5656 to let us know and to be sure you are communicating with Citizens Bank and not a criminal intent on obtaining your personal information. Also, be wary of any email asking you to log into Citizens Bank Online, or by following a link contained in the e-mail that will “assist” you in confirming your data.
These fraudulent e-mails may threaten that your account will be closed, or locked out if you don’t confirm your information. Businesses do not communicate this information in e-mails, as e-mail is an unsecured method of communication. Your bank and credit card vendor has a secure method for you to communicate with them. Access these sites as you normally would - - never “reply” using the link that fraudsters supply.
